Health Blog!

Welcome students to our class blog. We will be using this space for class discussions to examine, evaluate, and share knowledge. Discussions provide opportunities for students to think critically on the topics we will be learning about in Health class. Concepts, assignments, and readings will be used as the basis for our discussions to create a positive learning community in which students are willing to share their ideas and to accept constructive criticism form their peers.

Assignment One: Read chapter 27 section 3 of the online book. Answer the following questions and provide constructive feedback to at least three other learners.

Concept Check 27.3
1. Explain why homeostasis is important to your body´s functioning.
2. Give three examples of ways your skin helps maintain homeostasis in your body.
3. Explain one way that your body maintains a constant temperature while outside on a cold day.

  1. 1. Homeostasis is very important for the tissues because this only function very well when they have a single type of conditions.
    2. The skin it helps by providing a wall for impurities and microorganisms. Its help to insulate the body on cold days and to prevent internal organs from injury. Finally it helps by responding to stimuli as slight changes in body temperature and water content.

  2. 3.The skin more like closes you up, closes the pores.

  3. 1.Homeostasis is important for your body because it regulates the internal temperature, wich is a vital thing for body parts such as tissues.
2.The skin is a protective barrier that protects us from microscopes, it responds with stimuli to body temperature changes, and it also protects internal body parts from injuries
3.By closing the pores to keeo heat traped

  4. 1. Homeostasis is important to the body because the tissues can only survive at certain temperatures. Homeostasis is what controls the internal stability of the temperature.
    2. it insulates the body from cold temperature.
it creates sweat in order for the body to cool off
it contracts causing goosebumps to maintain the body heat inside
3.The skin contracts for that each pore is closed and so that the heat of our body doesn't get out of it.

  5. 1. homeostasis is what controls the internal temperatures, this helps different types of tissues becuase each tissue needs different temperatures.
    2. the sking helps protects organs and is the largest human organ. it algo helps keep heat inside and gives out sweat so that your body can stay in a certain temperature so that for example you are doing excersice your body doesnt over heat.
    3. it closes your pores so that heat is not released and its inside.

  6. 1. Homeostasis is the ability of our body to maintain a stable state inside our body temperature depending in the temperature outside. Which help us survive.
    2.
    A. It helps with sweat to cool of the body
    B. it also helps with the releasing of heat in the muscles to get hot which produces goosebumps
    C. The skin is our protection to the outside world and helps us a barrier.
    3. The muscle contracts releasing heat from the muscle and the pores close to maintain the heat.

  7. I think the answers that are posted are pretty good some of them like diegos are missing a little bit more of explanation and alicias and emis are pretty good.

  8. 1.Homeostasis is important because without this your body couldn't maintain a stable inside body temperature

2.It helps you take all impurities off your body for example sweat, helps your body stay in a certain body temperature and helps us as a barrier from the outside

    3. Close the pours from your body so heat is not release.

  9. I think that the answers are very well thinked but some need a little more explanation. I like Emi's answer a lot because it helps you to understand the concept and imagine it.

  10. 1.
Homeostasis is important for our body’s functioning because it allows an internal stability. It regulates our body temperature and helps us to not overheat or to get to cold. When it is a hot day our body will sweat so our body temperature stays at 37 ˚C, and when we are cold our muscles will shiver releasing heat.

    3.
    • The skin acts as a physical barrier against microorganisms and dirt from entering our body
    • The different layers on the skin warm the body in cold days as well as it protects internal organs from injury.
    • The skin by responding to stimuli such as small changes in body temperature and water content helps maintain homeostasis.

    4.
On a cold day our body will shiver causing rapid contractions of skeletal muscles. The muscles will then release heat which allows us to maintain a constant body temperature.

  11. I think martins answers are really easy to understand and that he made a great job answering the questions.
Some people needed to put more details in the answers just to be more complete but in general every answer is correct.

  12. 1. Homeostasis is important for are bodies, becasue it controls that our body temperature stays stable, because our type of tissue can survive only at certain tempreatures
    2. It serves as a barriesr to protect organs from viruses and the outside
It regulates the temperature by sweat and goosebumps
It contains sensory nerves wich let us have sensations
    3. One way our body maintains the temperature and still its cold outside is by the goosebumps produced by the body, which is a reaction.

  13. 1. Homeostasis controls our body temperature.
    2. By sweating, goosebumps and it protects the organism from the outside.
    3. By sweating

  14. When I read Alicia Perez comment I learned something new that I didn´t know before. She said that "Homeostasis is important to the body because the tissues can only survive at certain temperatures". I thought this was very interesting for me because I didn´t now tissues could survive under certain temperarure.

After reading all the answears I think most or even all of the people had very good answer that people could have helped people if they couldn´t answear any question, and also peopel could have learn new things from the responces and the answears.

  16. 1)Is important becose it helps control body tempeture when is hot up to 37 c and also when is cold
2)-WHen is cold it contract the muscle cousin it to mantain body tempeture
-When is hot it releases sweet that helps cool off the body
-When is too hot it releses vapor that goes throughout all the body
3)It can contracts your muscle and that will give you protection to internal organs becouse is cold
